Polar is extensively involved in refurbishments and new build programmes for schools across the North of England.
Over the past two years alone, Polar has completed work at over 150 schools in conjunction with many local authorities. Part of Polar's success can be attributed to its overriding objective: to leave each room in any school worked on cleaner and tidier than prior to the project commencement, and suitable for use as quickly as possible. Minimising disruption for staff, pupils and parents and maintaining a safe and tidy environment are key factors in this success.
For this reason Polar is often asked to carry out work during term time, and all Polar installation engineers have Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) clearance.
Amongst other aluminium profile systems, Polar is a Kawneer Authorised Dealer and is also currently working on the four-year SCAPE window replacement programme for school refurbishment as the authorised fabricator and installer for the North-East and Scotland. As such, Polar has extensive experience in the fabrication and installation of Kawneer and other related products - and Polar's fitting teams have the capability to correctly adapt products to meet individual, and sometimes unique, refurbishment project challenges. This experience also extends to being able to identify and tackle critical areas of a school refurbishment before they become a problem.
Polar has whole-envelope capability, including principal contractor, allowing a single brief for projects with interfaces between all other relevant sub-contractors.
Polar operates both directly employed and sub-contracted fitters. The sub-contracted fitters have been employed by Polar long-term and are subject to the same rigorous training and top-up training procedures that the in-house team undergo. This ensures the highest quality standards and uniformity of training for operating with a number of fenestration systems, and for ensuring that all health and safety and PPE procedures are adhered to on site.
